Sri. Vinayaka Education Trust is a charitable organization founded by a band of public- spirited and service oriented people of Davangere, whose aim is to provide education to the student community. It took its birth in the year 1980. Every year Sri Vinayaka Education Trust conducts various activities to desiminate culture and creates love and taste for arts among the citizens. Considering education as a part of culture, Sri Vinayaka Education Trust took another stride by starting G.M. Nursery school, P.E.S Primary School and Vinayaka Trust High-School. SBCFGC has a proactive Training, Development and Placement Cell. Headed by a full-time placement officer, the placement cell works in co-ordination with all the departments of the college in order to bridge the gap between the academic and the corporate worlds and to fulfil the human resource requirements of business organizations. The search for creative and competent personnel takes them to our placement cell, which is SBCFGC's response to the human resource transformation unfolding across the globe. The placement cell organizes training programmes, industrial visits, guest lectures, seminars and job fairs for our students.

STUDENT SUPPORT AND PROGRESSION Admissions are made on the basis of the Government reservation policy and the university guidelines. Students with greater achievements in the field of sports, cultural activities, science and technology are given preferential treatment. The student’s strength of the college is in increasing trend and dropout rate is negligible. Prospectus, website, scholarships, counseling, placement cell, grievance redressel cell are provided to the students. Students take active part in curricular, extra curricular, co-curricular and sports activities. There are some slow and quick learners in every class. The balance between them is brought about by arranging special coaching for slow learners and also through SC/ST/Minority remedial coaching cell established for the same purpose. The bright students are guided to write seminar papers and assignments. Their merit is appreciated and recognized before the students and staff. Career guidance programmes are conducted through career guidance and placement cell headed by a senior faculty member by inviting experts from universities and professional institutes. On campus and off campus selection facilities are made available to the students, where number of students have been selected by the renowned companies like, Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Tech-Mahindra, Jet king etc. Around 50% of our students who are graduated from our college pursue their education, especially Post-graduation. Around 10% will be selected in campus selection process. Around 20% becomes home makers. Around 10% engaged themselves in self employment and the remaining become the entrepreneurs. In our college several clubs on faculty-wise and committees have been formulated to guide the students to participate in cultural competitions, science exhibitions, management fests, to take competitive examination in all levels. Personality development programmes, soft skill, writing skills, resume preparation workshops are conducted to enable the students to improve their communication skills and to face the interviews.
TEACHING - LEARNING AND EVALUATION
Admission process of the college is transparent, based on the rules of the government. Diversified needs of heterogeneous groups of students are well observed and taken care of. ICT FACILITY: The admission begins when students submit the applications. The application forms are available at the college office. The applicant is advised and suggested by the Admission committee consisting of Principal and the Deans of the faculties. ICT is extensively used at the college. New administrative software has been introduced recently to facilitate the speedy and easy process of admission. All the departments are supplied with personal computers and which are used by the faculty to update their knowledge and to equip themselves to face the challenges before them in this ICT era. The transactions in the library are almost computerized. Custom-made library software is used. A corner in the library is converted into a Digital library. There are nearly eight computers in the library with digitalized resources and internet connectivity. We have the system of students centered teaching methods along with traditional methods. While teaching equal mportance is given for both theory and practice for the development of all types of skills. We prepare our own Calendar of events of our college based on the guidelines of the university. The college has adopted lecture method, OHP method, PPT method and black board method of teaching along with learners centered methods. All the academic programs are conducted according to the calendar of events with slight variation. The students’ welfare officer, lady counselor and a few senior teachers are connected to the academic and personal Counselor. Our college has adequate number of qualified, experienced teachers; some teachers are holding PhDs and a good number of teachers have M.Phil degrees. Majority of the teachers have availed of the benefit of F.I.P. program. We have the system of evaluation by the students, management and self appraisal by the teachers themselves. We have the evaluation of learning by the students through different methods, like compulsory tests, seminars and examination. The results are communicated to the students. Our curriculum is based on semester system of examination both for UG and PG courses and for the P.G., C.B.C.S. (Choice Based Credit System) is introduced. Examination reformation involves review of the valued answer books by external examiners. At present 25% of the answer scripts are reviewed by the external examiners. For the redressal of examination grievances provision has been made for Re-totaling, obtaining photocopy of the answer books and revaluation on demand. As an autonomous college we issue our own marks cards having 12 security measures. We also issue Provisional Passing Certificates to the students on demand. Since we have the continuous evaluation system the performance of the students is quite good in spite of the rural background of the majority of the students. As an autonomous college we declares three ranks in each of the course based on merit and the rank holders are honored on the occasion of the graduation day every year.
